The Senseo has a sleek and modern look, and it's just as innovative on the inside. By using light pressure, the brewing process is faster than with regular drip machines. You can have a freshly-brewed cup of coffee in under 2 minutes. My old drip machine seems like a slow beast by comparison.

It's simple to use, too. Flip open the top of the machine, slip in a pod and close. The water tank holds enough water to make several cups before refilling. You can brew 1 or 2 cups at a time. You will need to keep a supply of Douwe Egberts pods though, as the Senseo will only operate with them.

The brewing process produces a nice foamy layer on top the coffee, which is an almost luxurious touch. Oh, and speaking of the coffee, it's excellent. There are new models of the Senseo available now, including the Supreme.

Description: The Senseo coffee pod system from Philips, one of Europe's premiere coffee brands, was the world's first-ever, single-serve, low-pressure filter coffee system offering a frothy coffee layer when it was launched in Europe in 2001. More than 10 years in development and market research, the patented Senseo coffee-brewing system automatically uses the right amount of water and ensures that the water passes through the Senseo coffee pods quickly and evenly, maximizing the flavor from the coffee bean. The brewing process guarantees a perfect cup of fresh coffee within a minute every time.

The new Senseo Supreme has lots of new features that just add to the usability of this coffee maker.

This model gives you more control over how much coffee you brew. The original allowed 1 or 2 cups, whereas the Supreme still allows you that choice, but then also gives you the control to change the amount per cup. Very handy if you have odd-sized mugs. There is a nice LED display for this.

The spout is adjustable too, also great if you have tall cups. The water tank is larger than the basic Senseo, so you don't have to refill it as often. The LED display will warn you when the level is getting too low.

Overall, the Senseo Supreme is an improvement over the original with great new features. You still get the same fast, fresh coffee with that amazing froth layer.
